今回のミンダナオ島への訪問は、ボランティアの目的でもありました。
This visit to Mindanao was also for volunteering. We worked with a local group to help children in poor areas.
現地のボランティア団体と一緒に、貧しい地域の子供達へのボランティアを行ってきました。
私個人としても大量のお菓子やおもちゃを日本から持参し、子供達に配らせていただきました。
荷物はとても重かったのですが、子供達の喜ぶ顔を見たら疲れが吹っ飛んでしまいました。定期的に行いたいと思います！
I personally brought lots of sweets and toys from Japan for them. The bags were heavy, but the kids’ smiles made it all worth it. I want to do this regularly!
打ち上げで、みんなで一緒に海に遊びに行きました。
とても驚いたのは、こちらではまだガスが普及しておらず薪で料理をするのでどのグループも自宅から薪を持参して料理を行っていたことです！
しかし、雰囲気が出て料理をさらに楽しめました！
For celebration, we all went to the beach together.
I was surprised that most households still use firewood instead of gas for cooking – every family brought their own wood!
But it created such a cozy atmosphere that made the food taste even better!
帰りは現地の人たちと一緒に、３時間かけて帰りました。途中で雨が降ってきたのでみんなで布の下に隠れたのは良い思い出です♪
On our way back, we traveled 3 hours with locals. When rain suddenly poured, we all huddled under a cloth together – what a memorable moment!
